ABOUT

Hi, I’m David — a UI/UX designer and engineer based in Toronto.

I’m interested in the space where design, technology, and people intersect. I enjoy taking complex problems, understanding what people actually need, and turning those ideas into digital experiences that feel simple, intuitive, and purposeful.

My background in Computer Science has shaped the way I approach design. I think about more than how an interface looks — I think about how it works, how people move through it, how information is organized, and how the experience ultimately gets built.

Design × Engineering

I sit at the intersection of design and engineering.

I enjoy the entire process — from understanding a problem and mapping out a user journey, to designing an interface and seeing that design become a working product.

Having experience as a developer allows me to collaborate closely with engineers and think about technical constraints early in the design process. At the same time, my focus remains on the person using the product: what they need, what might confuse them, and how the experience can be made better.

For me, good design isn’t about adding more. It’s about finding the clearest way to help someone accomplish what they came to do.

Education

Honours Bachelor of Science — Computer Science

Trent University
Specialization: Software Engineering

My education gave me a strong foundation in software engineering, problem-solving, and building digital products. Through my studies, I developed an understanding of how software systems are designed, developed, and maintained — knowledge that now influences how I approach product and UI/UX design.

Studying software engineering also taught me to think systematically: break complex problems down, understand how different pieces connect, and build solutions that are both functional and scalable.

That technical foundation is something I bring into my design work. It allows me to think about the user experience and the underlying technology together, rather than treating them as separate parts of a product.

My Experience

I’ve worked across web and mobile products, including a workforce platform used by 10,000+ users, where I contributed to experiences for job discovery, interactive maps, skills management, resume building, and notifications.

I’ve also worked on AI-powered products and document workflows, giving me experience designing around complex technologies and making complicated information easier to interact with.
